Where is allston ma city hall

I decided to run because, during the pandemic, I watched as a lot of things fell on the wayside. Even with the Jackson Mann closing, they had the entire pandemic to step in and plan what they were going to do with those students.

We could have had actions put into place. I believe in bringing politics back to a community level. We need more representation than politicians. We are more than that, and we deserve to be treated as such. My biggest strategy is just getting out there and talking to people. I think it goes back to representation versus politics, and a lot of people really appreciated that I was out there.

Honan Fellowship. For instance, my ideas about teaching financial literacy inside our school systems and trades and AP courses for our schools. I can put forth propositions to support that at a larger scale for all of Boston public schools, and I can fight for those programs individually now as a city councilor if I get into office. Also, protecting green spaces and creating dog parks. We can protect those things right now here in Allston-Brighton.

We need to make better allies of our nonprofit colleges here in Allston-Brighton. And I think that we need to make better allies out of them and utilize those grounds. So, partnering up with developers and the colleges, we need to start building more bridges and utilizing the assets that we have to secure funding to accomplish these goals. Contact and learn about your politicians. That was one of my biggest things in the mayoral election. This year is probably the most important year for voters.

We have a new mayor going in, we have four at-large council seats open, and we have a whole bunch of people running at the District level. Boston-based group Skate Hags creates inclusive community on wheels. I love groupthink. Each issue is its own separate issue.

So with that, you can come up with your neighborhood plan and work with the city, other city councilors and help them implement their neighborhood plan. There are issues in other Districts, such as the Seaport — they have issues with water and the ocean. So each problem is different and how you deal with each problem with other city councilors is how it relates to them to work together as a group and then approach the city. For me, the beginning is that the City Council represents the constituents, so you have to be accessible to a broad range of constituents, not just a few loud voices.

In some cases, you have to almost reach out to people who have their heads down [and] who are just working. They have an opinion; everybody has an opinion. What matters is being available to these people. Those are the constituents that I also want to represent.

You have to have marketing all of these elements. A perfect example of that is affordable ownership. People have pushed against me, against affordable homeownership, because they want rentals or whatever they want, bigger buildings. I know in my heart, without a doubt, that affordable ownership will always be better, short term and long term, [than] affordable rentals.

In 30 years, your payment is still the same in general. You have to negotiate all of these things. All of these elements play into why this lends itself well to being a city councilor. There are plenty of laws in favor of the tenants.

All you need to do is enforce the current laws. So you have a law in the book right now, or you have a zoning regulation in Boston, [which prohibits more than four undergraduates living together in one apartment]. However, down the street from me, you have six [undergraduate students] moving into an apartment in deplorable condition. Whose fault is that? Who is also at fault? Those six students are violating the maximum of four people, four undergrads living in one unit.

We can also blame the parents. Parents are allowing that to happen. The university. The mayor, because she was across the street talking about it. As a landlord and a renter, I see both sides of that coin. So they have to hold the landlords accountable. They have to hold everyone else accountable, too. I really believe that four undergraduates living in an apartment is an excellent ordinance, and it needs to be enforced.

I like old things. I think we need to preserve more. We need to put more effort into preserving things and appreciating some of the historical nature. An unfortunate example is that two buildings were supposedly part of the Underground Railroad — and I have to emphasize the word supposedly — but they were demolished, without investigation, to build a new building.
